The Kinky Machine :
Formed after Paul & Chris were at the same Philip Sayce gig in London (without knowing the other was there until the end of the night LOL) November 2023, and inspired to ‘do something again’ after jamming together on and off in various bands over the last 30 years the seed was sown and The Kinky Machine was born. After a few months Pete joined the fun and after 5 jams and Chris writing some great tunes we’re out there doing our thing.
“Never been clean, we’re loud and obscene, that’s why they call us The Kinky Machine” 🤘🏻

Drum tracking with Gramm Vedetta, working title 'The Atomic'
Переглядів 18011 місяців тому
Here's a quick chopped up video drum tracking with my band Gramma Vedetta while tracking our song 'The Atomic'. First part is full band tracking to give context and the second part is just the isolated drums. Kit - Gretsch Brooklyn 24x14, 13x8, 16x16, 18x16 and USA cast Phosphor Bronze 14x6.5 snare (new addition so still finding the sound with that beast). Enjoy playing this one!

Last time we jammed this tune was 5 odd years ago, being as we're playing in a few days for a laugh we thought we should have blast trough. Pete Billing on bass and Jim Cooper on Guitar and I, the Pablo as I'm now called by most, on the drums.
OLD VIDEO FIND! Well, not that old really... Some chilled out drums

Found from a couple of years ago, shortly after I finished the studio build, tracking some chilled out drums for my mate Chris Gussman, I think he posted the finished tune somewhere! He sent me this guide that was sort of played to a click 😂😂😂 Anyway, I was playing around with the Slate Digital ML2's (That's the only mic on the kit and used for everything!) Kick in and out, Snare, Hats, Toms, O...

Small room, Small drums, BIG sound? Can the bop kit ROCK with Two Aston Spirit Mics!?!?

Recording my small sizes Gretsch Brooklyn drum kit recorderman style with two Aston Spirit microphones. These awesome large diaphragm condenser mics delivered a brilliant result! (I think so anyway). Built like tanks with all the options you'd ever need these British built mics are a steal and easily hold their own with the big boys of the mic world. Big Foot By Chickenfoot - TURN IT UP!

Here's a cover of a wicked tune by Chickenfoot - Big Foot, CRANK IT UP! A little studio lockdown project with my mate Jim Cooper on Guitars, Bass and Vocals and myself on Drums and BV's. Jim recoded his parts remotely and it was all put together in the new studio 'The Pit' by myself, who's a little bit rusty at it all at the moment! We hope you enjoy the tune, there's more to come.

Is the Slate Digital ML-2 the only mic you'll need? Pablo's Back Part 2
Переглядів 4753 роки тому
Having had a great mic collection from AKG, Sontronics, sE, Neumann, Sennheiser, Rode & Shure in the past, I was curious, very curious about the Slate Digital ML-2. Could this affordable pencil mic really deliver recordings on par with some of the microphones I used to own? Over the next few video we'll see, I have a sneaky feeling it can.

Great video. The difference really comes down to what sound you prefer. The American sounds brighter. Great for traditional jazz but the warmer MIM would sound better with Latin Jazz - no pun intended.

The only issues I found with this was the stupid screw inlets on the pickups which made it uncomfortable to rest my thumb when I played mine. I sold it but got a bargain, never gigged SR300E with the tap switch. The jack socket isnt practical if you have a right-angled jack plug on your lead....

    • @PaulAnnis
      @PaulAnnis Рік тому

Hi, well this was a looooong time ago! But, I never did 'polish' any of the audio from the demos, the idea was to be as honest as possible and to try and get the instruments tone across the best I could,, so no compression from my side :)

ATK 200 user since 2012. Used it in almost all styles I can play, I've played it with both fingerstyle and a pick. For my main tonal experience, I use the middle pick up which sounds like a stingray but I use the neck in songs that require a pbass sound.

So appreciate your review. After 10 years it is still relevant as we are still picking them up used at reasonable prices. Why? Because they stand the test of time. Like used Toyotas, the just keep soldering on. Lastly, yours is the only review where you use the same base line for the various pickup and tone selections. From an engineers perspective, this provides a true apples to apples comparison. Keep up the good work my friend your right on the mark.

So I've got myself a LoFReQ Sub-Mic by Solomon to take out with me LOL That on the front and a 52a round the back should do the job nicely. I should do a video on it, if people are interested!?!?
